Next Year is Here
In baseball, it’s always, “Wait ‘til next year.” Well, no more waiting. Next year is here. It started last night, in fact, with a win by the St. Louis Cardinals over the Chicago Cubs.

Which brings me to this week’s blog. It’s short, real short. In fact, this is the whole blog. And that is because I am continuing a tradition of attending the Washington Nationals’ home-opener.
I have done so every year (… except for the year I was stuck right outside the stadium because President Obama was throwing out the first pitch. Security would not let anyone into the parking spaces, even though people had bought them online, and nowhere did they warn you that you would be denied admission within two hours of the game. I still have nightmares about that one.) and I am doing so today.
I hope you will forgive me, dear reader.
The daffodils are out, it’s going to be 75 degrees here, and it’s supposed … I say “supposed” … to be the Nats’ year. We’ll see. But for today, the idea of just sitting in the sun and listening to bats cracking sounds awfully good. Happy spring.
Deb … you’re not pickimg on my Cubs again are you? I note that your Nationals also lost their first game yet you did not report on it. A little fairness here would be appreciated! Lyle
Deb, Obama was here last week and he screwed up rush hour traffic to the point that a 20 minute commute turned into 4 hours. Our Cubbies opened up 0-14 with men in scoring position. Folks like Lyle and I have suffered for a lifetime. You Nat fans are new money. Go suffer for a generation and then complain. Bill Stone
Well Lyle and Bill, “my” Nationals have not been having the greatest of starts, so I feel your pain!
